We're doing the same thing. My husband was a photographer when he served in the Marines for 5 years, and we have a really good camera. Might as well do it ourselves. It's cheaper and you can get what you want.

Plus baby is more comfortable at home where they're familiar anyway. You have all the time in the world at home where as at a studio, you only get 2-4 hours to get the pictures done. And more than half the time, babies are needing diaper changes, feedings, they're stubborn, etc. Keeping little one comfortable and in an environment they're used to seems like it would make better photos.

I agree @kikibee It's like they know something is going on when you take them to a studio and they don't cooperate

I made that mistake with my daughter when she was first born. 2 weeks old and I thought she'd stay asleep but the moment we got there she was awake, alert, and super pissed off when I'd walk away.

I took photos of her at home and she was knocked out and it turned out to be the one I framed.
