I am in quite a predicament... My boyfriend and I are expecting; due April 7th. He has full custody of his 9 year old son. His son is so difficult and misbehaves constantly. He has to be asked soooo many times to do any simple thing. Any time I put my foot down because I get tired of having to repeat myself over and over; I get told that I am overbearing and too strict. It's gotten to the point that his son will deliberately disobey me just because he knows his dad will tell me that I am being too strict. I am pretty lenient and give him so many chances to do the right things but after so many times I will take away a toy, tv privileges, dessert etc. but it just turns into an argument between me and my boyfriend. I don't know what to do anymore😣

I have a step son as well and a couple years ago I had to tell my husband that since I take care of him as if he were my own, I get to discipline him that way as well. My boys will have the same rules and the same treatment!

don't let that happen to your child, you guys need to sit down and talk about parenting, its the worst for the child if they think they can get away with stuff with one parent n not the other. good luck

Ive tried to talk to him and sometimes he will get into his son but a lot of the time it's like I'm made out to be the bad guy. I am with his son more than he is because I'm not working (going to school full time). I take his son to school everyday, pick him up from school everyday, make sure he does his homework... Etc. I feel like I'm a convenient free nanny. I take care of his child and I can praise him when he does good, but God forbid I try to discipline him.

when my mom remarried she married a guy with one son who was used to getting everyone's attention.. my mom was in the same place as you. it was so bad that my step brother would talk his dad into talking to other women and even be his cover up and take him to these girls house. I'm not making excuses for my step dad because he's a big boy he wasn't forced to cheat but he did. my mom and step brother got in to so many fights and it got to the point where she couldn't take it so she left. what I'm saying is if you don't put a stop to it now it's going to get so much worse. I'm not saying your boyfriend would cheat I'm just saying what I've seen happen when it's like that. if you need to talk I'm here
