living in a small room with a baby coming..
my OH and I are waiting to find a place through the council but there is a big possibility that we will be in this situation when the baby is born. at the moment we are living in a chalet at my OH'S parents and it is about as big as a studio flat maybe a little smaller. I have a kitchen (no stove)/living room/bed room, a bathroom (toilet, sink, shower).
I want to prepare ourselves in case we have to spend some time with the baby in here. does anybody have any suggestion for room saving? as at the moment I have got boxes of baby stuff everywhere. we don't even have enough space to put our own clothes away..
this is stressing me out!! councils are useless!!

The council are so useless! I was relying on help from them, decided me and OH are going to buy a house of our own by the end of this year 😊 @felicjuh X

your absolutely right @vicky1995 my OH is self employed so we can't get a mortgage.. it's just so frustrating.. xx

we are lucky that my OHs parents are being so kind to take us back into their house and not pay rent, so we can save super quick for morgage on the help to buy scheme, otherwise we really would be buggered 😕 @felicjuh xx

that's what we are doing for the time being @zaralee71 but as we leave near London you pay easily 1000 for a 1 bed room appt.. and than next year we need to move to a 2 bedroom apartment and council will not be very eager to help us then as we would be off their list and not home seeking or transfer. if that makes sense I find it all very complicated XD xx

With your situation as horrible as it is, will benefit you more for getting a place with council as you'll be more in need now than if you had a 2 bed appt.. We were in a one bed private rented flat before we got our 2bed house (housing association).. What went in our favour was the lack of room for baby (although a big flat) as he didn't have his own room and the fact it was riddled and I mean disgustingly riddled with rising damp... I was on the bidding thing from Halloween 2014 and moved into our now home end of April 2015 (6 months waiting and my son was 10 weeks old when we moved). I know it won't always be the same for everyone waiting times and all due to different area etc but fingers crossed for you that something is sorted, I think they take it more seriously when the baby has arrived tbh, so don't give up hope just yet xx

I know @zaralee71 it's ridiculous! @emmajo I agree and that's why I want to make the best of the situation we are in now and organise it as good as we can. looking for space saving solutions haha on the positive side as long as we are in here we can save a nice amount a month. especially as I want to stay on mat leave for 10 months so is good to have some savings :) xx

Oh definitely.. You can get space saver cots.. I wouldn't buy a jumperoo though as they take up loads of room.. Any chance you could keep some stuff in your partners parents house that maybe isn't needed from birth or going to be often used? Space under your bed for boxes? Xx
