Is my fiancé and I the only one who doesn't want visitors at the hospital the first day? We want to spend some quality time with our son and think it will be too hectic for everyone to show up right as soon as the baby is born. His mom and little sisters are throwing a fit and saying that it's not fair that they can't come see they baby as soon as he's born. I have hypertension and will most likely have to have a c section when the time comes because of complications. Are we being reasonable to have one down day at the hospital or are we just being rude like his family is saying? 😯

not weird. we asked for the same. it's actually not good for a newborn to have so many new bacteria introduced to them so fast anyway... there was a recent article on it a few months back. tell his family to shut up @kaysromero

my husband and I feel the same way, we are having a csection and from previous experience it is very hectic with so many people in and out right away so this time we have asked for no one to visit until after noon at least so we can settle in and I can breastfeed since this will be the first time I am breastfeeding, and boy have we gotten so much crap about asking people to wait everyone is mad at us but it is our wishes and we have even let the hospital know ahead of time we do not want visitors so they won't let anyone up until we say. I don't understand why family is so rude and don't want to respect our wishes but the way we see it is they will eventually get over it, I don't see it as being rude at all.

@kaysromero, that's perfectly fine . After my son was born (my first) I quickly realized it's not a good idea to have visitors in the hospital. People started coming like 2 hours after I had him ! My husband and I only had 2 hours of alone time with our son in his first 2 days of life ! And I could barely hold him because my epidural made my whole body numb and I was scared to drop him . So I had to watch other people come and go and kiss on him , hold him , it became too much for me . Told hubby this time around it will be just us & no visitors until we get settled in at home .

When I had my daughter I didn't really want a ton of visitors right away but I was ok with a few hours after I had her. But I'm already planning that when I have my next baby (I'm not even pregnant yet) that I will not be telling family I am even in the hospital until after the baby is born. I want it to be just my husband and I and my daughter unless I tell one person so they can watch my daughter!

В ожидании первенца
Im going to allow anyone who wants to be there in the delivery room (family of course) since I live out of state from my family and it will most likely just be my parents who drive out. But then as soon as she's born I'm kicking out everyone but my husband lol. That's your time and you've already waited so long for that day. Don't let anyone ruin it by getting butthurt.

it just pisses me off because My fiancé and his mom have never had a good relationship and literally weren't speaking to each other until she found out I was pregnant. She doesn't care about us, she just cares about being able to hold the baby. She doesn't care what we want. She just wants to hold the baby.

there is nothing wrong with that. the 1st day the only one that's going to meet baby will be it's big sissy. everyone else has to wait until the next day. with My daughter I got to see everyone else who was there before they brought her back to me... I was so angry. I just wanted to be left alone with my husband and baby but people wouldbt leave. when the baby is born its about you and what you want. it's not about everyone else.
