Sometimes they induce early because of medical reasons. Also sometimes the pain just gets unbearable and they allow you to be induced at 39 weeks. I am getting induced next friday at 39 weeks because I've been in labor 2 weeks now and only dilated 2 cm, 60% effaced and baby is at -2 on the birthing scale so needless to say my body is done and I'm hurting so bad that I can barely walk or do anything. It's better to go into natural labor than it is to be induced but sometimes it's just necessary. @melina.a.613

most of the time it's medically necessary, sometimes it can be requested just because, but you have to be a certain amount of weeks and that depends on your doctor of when it's allowed. at the hospital I use, there are 3 physicians that induce, 2 only will at 42 weeks and the other will at 41 weeks without any medical necessity to induce. So it just depends!

Oh, understood. I hear induction labor is worse than natural labor.

A few of my friends were scheduled cause their doctors wanted a specific date (I guess it was for his own schedule), I had gotten preeclampsia with my first so I was induced at 39 weeks, and my sister was induced at 39 weeks cause the baby was measuring on the heavy side so the doctors were scared she wouldn't deliver a big baby for a FTM. I guess it varies by doctor and situation.

Yes being induced hurts more because the contractions come on quicker and you dilate much faster and sometimes they have to break your water. @melina.a.613

Yeah I've been stuck in labor for 2 weeks and I told my doctor I'm done please induce me. I'm done being in pain. I just wanna push out my daugher and be done with all this pain. Lol @melina.a.613 they are giving me Pitocin to help my cervix continue to dilate so I'm able to push her out.

In my situation I'm being induced a week early because I live two hours from my dr. I see a specialist and he also delivered me as a baby so I really want him to deliver my daughter. If I go into labor where I live I won't make it to him is the worry. I also am due the Saturday that spring break ends. So I'm going to be induced the beginning of spring break to help with everyone being able to make it two hours down the road and I will also miss way less school.

I don't think I can handle two weeks of labor, so more power to you girl. Lol. Good thing you get to meet your little girl soon. :) @bentley_mommy
