can someone answer... what is the point of a midwife? what does she do?

She is there to make sure everything goes smoothly! Basically like a doctor would!

Nurses aren't certified to do what Midwives do.

It's personal preference. I had a obgyn deliver my baby and she has a cnm on call in case she is unavailable.

@bmeinen0814, there are also nurse midwives, that can do the same things, just need to have a doctor be in charge of them. I personally would get a midwife if my doctor wasn't already so good! 😊

all of my nurses and even the OB acted just like midwives lol
