ladies please tell me at what age you turn a child to the front....trying to make sure I'm not crazy

you mean in a car seat? age 2 is the recommended age.

I think it's more height and pounds than age now. Check the car seat. It should have that information in the manuel

american academy of pediatrics now recommends kids rear face until at least 2 years of age.

@hermommy, whoa... that's actually pretty scary. Forward facing that young is really dangerous.

@levleah, yeah I won't take her anywhere not with a 6 month old facing forward. to dangerous and I refuse to put her In danger

@hermommy, she better hope she doesn't get into a wreck or that baby will probably end up dead from a broken neck. that sounds terrible but it's reality. and depending on the carseat laws where she is... she could be charged pretty steeply for it. that goes if she gets stopped in a traffic stop as well.

check your states law, legally it might be 2 years if your state is up to date, if not then legally it's 1 year AND 22lbs. but no matter what the seat will say at least 1 year and 22lbs in which case she's not using her seat according to the manual (also illegal)

I would try telling her that since he's not a year old and forward facing, he's not following the seats "rules" according to the manual so if she gets into a wreck it voids her seats warranty and insurance will not pay for a new seat if it wasn't being used properly. it will be her own responsibility to buy a new seat.

she lives where I do, and I do believe it's highly illegal until age two, I can't the thought of it scares me like you said it can kill her instantly this is the baby little emmery@nicemmcha2015

@hillenburgm, it is 100% age. size and weight has nothing to do with it actually. a large 1 year olds bones are still not as developed as a small 2 year olds. forward facing is based on when the bones fuse together properly and are able to handle the stress of a wreck without breaking.

@crunchymomma, I'll let her know I'm not worried about the seat lol I'm worried about the sweet baby girl in the seat she's not 22 pounds I was at the last Dr appointment with her I asked a cop here and he said it's 2 years of age no mater the weight😢 I just don't want Hagen go get hurt or worse killed

I turned both my kids around between age 1, 1 1/2.

if she gets into a wreck the baby could get what's called internal decapitation. only one baby has ever survived that, and he had an amazing surgeon who performed the operation. even still that baby is paralyzed and possibly brain damaged for the rest of his life.

heck my daughters been in a big carseat since she was six months but that thing didn't faceforward till she was a year old same with my son. but its all about weight and height and proper use of the harnesses and the belts on the car seats. a lot of moms don't use the harnesses which causes more danger when a wreck happens with any child in a car seat.

@amanda_turner, shes not one until July:( and they have her turned but i believe in Alabama its 2 years and @crunchymomma I hope she listens to me I will be torn up inside if something happens to that sweet baby

@hermommy, for a lot of mom's the "you'll have to pay money out of pocket" seems to be more effective than "you're doing it wrong and your baby can die"

that's how I used to be sadly, until I was better educated.

@beckahhkathleen, if she would face if backwards I'd be fine but she isn't, she's forward facing and it's dangerous, I didn't face my niece forward until she was a month away from 2. I like being safe rather than sorry emmery needs. big girl seat but it shouldn't be forward facing when she had the infant seat she didn't buckle the clamps between they legs bc they didn't work....

@hermommy, so you know for your own daughter, forward facing is about age. it has nothing to do with weight and height. And booster seats are about maturity not age, weight, or height.

she needs a quick lesson on how to use a carseat. and if she got a big car seat that cant rear face she needs to go get another one. because that baby needs to be rear facing. my old neighbor hardly buckled her infant into the carrier she would just throw him upfront in the base. of course once i got tired of seeing it being done which took two times i called the cops when she left and told them her info and she ended up getting a big ticket and losing her son and she was messed up on xanax while driving with him.

omg no. I will do the same If it means Hagen is safe. she buckles her right now... I will find out if the carseat faces backwards. @beckahhkathleen @crunchymomma yes my daughter won't face forward for at least 2 years maybe 2 1/2 just to make sure. I want her safe in every way possible
