babies born after 24 weeks should survive and closer to full term the better. can have breathing issues and other problems so will stay in nicu for generally a few weeks or more til they can breathe on own, feed without help of feeding tube and regulate temperature. I am at risk for preterm labor as well so I have been reading up alot. Normally if baby is going to be preterm they will give you prednisone to accelerate development of babies lungs as well.
There are possible health issues that come along with a preemie that comes that early. They'll probably have to stay in the NICU but nothing the nurses can't help you and your baby with!
my twins were born at 33 weeks 1 day. one stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks just because she was jaundice and stuff like that... while the other contracted other health problems from the hospital and had to stay over a month....but that had nothing to do with her being premature.
