😬😬😬 The place that drew the blood from my baby totally did it from her arm, like they would an adult. with a rubber tie and all😡 Ofcourse me not knowing I figured it was normal, but then I thought about it and asked my friend who's a phlobotomist and she was like they should have done it from her heel, finger or toe!😵😵 ugh not going back to that place for her other lab work, that's for sure! 😡😡😡😡So far she doesn't have any brusing, which is good.

My hubby works in peds as a phlebotomist. He said that if they have a good vein in their arm it's easier and it depends on how much blood they need. ❤️ try not to worry and keep an eye on it ❤️

They aren't supposed to ever take from their veins when they are that small... They usually take from their heel and squeeze the blood out

@sonjaeg, it depends how much they need. If a doctor orders it it's safe to do a venipuncture 6 months and up.

@kmally thank you in trying not to. the lady was tapping at her arm and everything. I was like..umm ok I guess. I showed my friend the lab work that needed to be done and she said they still could have done it from her heel. she's 6 months and only 10lbs so she's small 😓

Yeah i had to take my daughter when she was about a month... Its so much harder to do the heal because you have to hold your baby down while they poke a whole in her foot and then on top of that squeeze blood out... Ughhh that stuff is never easy

@sonjaeg awww yea it's not😢 I still had to hold her down on my lap and as soon as the needle went in, she started crying. I wanted to cry too😭😭

They did it from my sons hand while he was in the hospital. I assumed the heel was the only place too but I was wrong.

Depending on how much blood they needed it is actually easier on baby to take from the arm. Heel sticks don't provide that much blood and they have to milk it out which can be painful. Taking it from the arm can be quicker so it's over faster

@momma1416 it just seems like her arm is too tiny😩 it took a minute for the technician to get her vein to appear nicely

I understand! They had to draw blood from my daughter when she was that size. They did 2 heel sticks and then her arm and I wish they would've just started with the arm. Either way it's always hard as a momma to have to have your baby go through that!

@momma1416 well she's 6 months and like 10lbs..we could only do one blood draw today cuz her weight. she has 2 more to go😭
