Ladies have you ever heard of anyone telling you that you're really not supposed to have a pap smear…

I've never heard you didn't need a pap until after your 30s. I know they don't give them to you if you are under 21 cause they say your cells aren't matured and they come back irregular. and that's crazy someone said they cause miscarriages I've never heard that either

I was preg last year & had my first pap smear & the next day I had a miscarriage I was really early in the pregnancy. I'm not blaming it on the pap but I do sometimes wonder if that could've triggered it.

@wyatts_mommy_0106, I had a pap smear when my mom heard I was having sex I was always taught that it was something to keep me safe. I am in shock that this girl was trying to argue with me over it & I am just like I can't even be mad at you because someone has really told you all this..

@babyvrp, well pap smears are required when you're pregnant especially early if anything can back abnormal they could fix it. I am so sorry for your loss though 😞

I've never had one before and when I found out I was pregnant, my doctor said she wasn't doing one cause I'm not old enough. I'm 19.

ooh wow that's crazy when you try to give someone facts they wanna argue. its crazy some people don't know the difference between fact and opinion. same here my mom found out me and my sisters were sexual active she took us to go get paps and tested I know I went for a pap when I was 19 and they wouldn't give me one said I needed to be 21 now but did check me for STDs

@wyatts_mommy_0106, I was trying to help her understand why her doctor wants to give her one & why it's important especially during pregnancy. & she took it the wrong way. & I had a pap smear when I first had sex didn't have one for a couple years & when my doctor asked me why I didn't & that I need to have a routine pap smear. It was all just so crazy & I am still trying to wrap my head around it

Ooh wow smh some ppl. paps are important especially when pregnant cause they make sure to do std test cause baby can get a std from the mom is she has one I know my Dr gave me 1 at my 2nd appointment and I was supposed to have one at 36 weeks but had my son before that. me too like when my Dr said they don't do them until 21 but they still do std checks and explained why once I turned 21 I started going once a year for one and still do. hopefully when her Dr goes to give her one maybe he/she can explain why it's important during pregnancy.

@wyatts_mommy_0106, THANK YOU! & well the whole post spoke about how she refuses to have her doctor put her "fingers" in her because she doesn't know her then how she won't lose her baby at 34 weeks because of a pap smear... I hope her doctor talks to her cause its the baby that needs to safety more than her

Never heard that. I think anytime after you become sexually active and around the age of 18 that you should have a pap smear. I had a friend at an early age of cervical cancer.

Yeah me too cause the pap smears are to check on baby and make sure the baby doesn't have anything and she thinks that she doesn't know her Dr well enough to stick her fingers in her how will she feel when she has a nurse or 2 plus a Dr in there pulling her babu out of her and having a nurse help clean her up down there its their job its not like they are getting enjoyment outta it

@lashellg, thats what I was taught. Im sorry about your friend I hope she's okay . I had one who just had surgery to get the cancer out of hers

@wyatts_mommy_0106, her whole voice of reasoning was just all off. She needs to trust her dr. Hell I can't stand people poking & prodding me down there either but if that's what I need to do keep my child healthy have at it. I just hope someone reasons with her because her baby needs it just in case

hopefully her Dr can reason with her and tell her the risks of not allowing them too to me it sounds very selfish of her (just my opinion) and sounds like someone has scared her into thinking the way she does. I don't either but since it was for my son I sucked it up and also I found a Dr I was comfortable with and he never made me feel awkward about it and always told me what he was about to do so I knew what was going on

you have the option to opt out, especially when you are that far. but here at the office I work at they recommend you start getting them at 21 and every 2-3 years after. it use to be 18. it had to change after 2010 cause I had one with my son and I was 19. and I started working at an on/gyn clinic in 2011 and one of the other MA's told me it had changed to 21. but as far as the miscarriages I had never heard that especially being as far as she was 25weeks

I've seen a couple ladies pass 20 weeks have one done with no problems..

But not everyone has a logical mindset. & thats what I am thinking because my SO grandmother & mom both jumped my ass for washing clothes on New Years Eve & Sundays (my only day off) because I will bring bad luck or even bad luck during pregnancy. She told my sister that her son was going to die because she washed clothes on those days. So teachings can be really bad & she had to be taught & yes exactly & male doctors tend to be the best. I hated my female doctor because she put me on pills that I wasn't supposed to be on while pregnant so I went straight to a midwife

@0816mommy, she confused me all around & I know what she was stating she was taught & I know every doctor is different I honestly never heard of anything she was voicing. At all. I honestly wasn't there to be rude I was just trying to say why her doctor would want to. & she made me mad but I had to stop it I am really not looking for a social media fight. I promise you all of the anger was not intended .

Yes exactly I had my Hubby's family tell me pretty much what to except than I had my brother and his gf tell me I was gonna have a big baby and he'd grow up obese because I don't eat healthy and I was gonna gain over a 100lbs cause he was my first. or I would get my child taken from me cause statics show kids who was in foster care lose their kids and dumb shit like that. or I have a friend tell me my son will always be behind other kids cause he was a preemie. Some people think they know it all even family members I learned what to listen too. yes I think male drs are way better than a female ob/gyn I've had so many females make it awkward

lol. she should just ask more questions. I would at least let them do cultures cause that is actually how they do the std testing and stuff and that's just swabbing.

@wyatts_mommy_0106, oh lord you have bad in laws to. I feel your pain... But the foster care thing is why I do everything I can to not be put into a book statistic. I am 21 was in foster care at the age of 4. Got into 2 failed adoptions & was put on the streets at 18 (I still graduated HS through it all & went to college right after). I didn't find the family God had planned for me until I was 19 (who I call my family now). Everyone tries to make foster children like nobody's & no good . Just another statistic. & they couldn't be more wrong for a lot of them. & his family should feel ashamed to talk about a child like that especially their blood. That's awful im sorry you went through that.

@0816mommy, yes which is what confused me because I had both done & all they did was swab & I was like how does that cause miscarriage if that caused a miscarriage then wouldn't sex during pregnancy do a lot worse.

Yeah I put myself in foster care at 15 cause I was being abused and it wasn't my Hubby's family it was my brother and his gf telling me this I work extra hard to make sure that don't happen cause bouncing from group home to group home was shitty enough. Yeah I got my GED cause they lost credits and kept telling me I was in 10th grade instead of 12th so o dropped out and got my GED. I had one failed adoption but it was my fault and I still call my friends mom my mom and we tell everyone we are sisters. thank you me and my brother no longer talk cause he actually threatened me to have my son taken from me so I told his ass to kick rocks we wasn't related no more. exactly I don't want to be another statistic either so I go above and beyond to make sure no one can try and take my son from.me

@wyatts_mommy_0106, Oh im sorry I misread that. & either way that worse your own brother. & I promise you that failed adoption is not your fault. Nothing is ever the childs fault when it comes to the adoption its the parents job to make it work & know that adoptions are easy & especially when it comes with past abuse. Im so sorry you went through all that. I think your son is one lucky kid to have you as a mommy

Thank you. yeah my brother had a easy life never got abused cause our aunt and uncle saw him as he was his dads kid and I was my moms even though we have the same parents. Yeah my caseworker blamed me I got bakeracted cause I took a bunch of pills and went to school I just wanted to see what it did. Your son is gonna have a great mommy too you are really strong!! I think being a foster care kid gives us character and we know how cruel this world is first hand

@wyatts_mommy_0106, to hell with your social worker she was wrong & should be fired ! & your brother needs help but you became strong & from just speaking to you this little bit pretty awesome. & that it does we were put through certain situations for a reason & I know our sons will be good young men . No doubt about that.

I made her cry and she switched me for another kid with another social worker which I liked my new one a million times better. yes he does but he is a meth head now so I don't see him getting it he is selfish like our dad. You are too I feel like we actually connected. yes they will they will have a different outlook on life i think than other kids their age

I grew up being told you have a yearly pap after you turn 18 or become sexually active, whichever comes first. Never heard it may cause miscarriage. Sounds funky to me. My mom hates dr's so she told me paps gave you STD's because they "reuse" the speculums, which is total nonsense.

@mommyrai, the cancer was found after the c-section of her 2nd son. She passed away about a year after that. I was a senior in high school and she had just turned 20.
