It wouldn't be a true period--there would be another reason for the bleeding. If you're having period-like bleeding definitely call your doctor or go in.
A period would be you shedding the lining of your uterus. That's impossible while pregnant. There can be bleeding that's not necessarily harmful to the pregnancy but it wouldn't be menstruation.

My little brother's mom did. She had three periods and then found out she was 12 weeks pregnant!
