I was diagnosed with tic syndrome in January of 2015 after dealing with it since childhood. the tics fluctuated and changed with time. It would be teeth chomping, excessive finger snapping, picking at things, constant blinking, throat noises....sometimes, when it was really severe, multiple would coalesce at once. Well, recently it's progressed. I will squeeze my eyes closed and the muscles in my throat will spasm and close off my airways. I will fight to breathe while making gaspy and other odd noises. That will go on for about 40 seconds and then I can breathe again. Then it'll do it again a few minutes later. This is a big part of my life, a big struggle I will never overcome. My basic motor skills have been permanently reduced and affected by TIC syndrome. And I hope to god my daughter never suffers this hell.

Does anyone else child shake their head from side to side like they are saying no? Even if they are playing by themselves? My son has started doing this and his step brother has autism. He just shakes his hands when he gets really excited though. Is this a sign of autism or tics? Sometimes he makes dog panting noises when laughs or sounds like a dolphin when he laughs.

Got put on a low dose tourettes medicine...great. Only problem? It hasn't been tested for breastfeeding safety. So my doctor said to watch my LO for the next few days and if she has any adverse effects from it to stop the medications and just handle the tics until the neurologist has an opening to see me. Lovely.
