We used the diaper backpack. It was a compromise because hubby didn't want to look like he was carrying a purse. The one we used had lots of space but the bottle pockets weren't big enough on the one we had
I have both!! if it's a short trip or lots of walking I grab my backpack but they are much smaller so for longer trips I use my bag!!! I have a buddah bag and LOVE it! looks like a purse and has 2 zippers that make it expand:)

i have never used a diaper backpack to me they don't have a lot of room but I could be wrong.

I'd recommend backpack. They're better for your back. The bags eff up your shoulders which mess up your back :/
