You could get a rock and play to put beside yalls bed in your room. Or a mini pack n play if you want him/her flat on their back. The rock n play was a life saver for us tho. Slept through the night from day one except one week he got fussy

does it increase the changes of SIDS when they sleep in a rock and play? since there not flat on there back?

I was thinking of getting a bassinet but I have no idea how much they cost. are they expensive?

We're in the same position. We're getting a bassinet for baby, they have them as cheap as 40$ at Walmart (: baby will stay in our room for the first 6mo or so, then our 4yr old will be sharing his room.

Also for the risk of SIDS, a rock n play should not increase that because baby is still going "back to sleep". In fact it may be safer because I believe they come with a harness to keep baby from rolling, and it's at a slight incline (I believe) which is not harmful. Their main worry with sids is that the baby doesn't sleep on the side or tummy because they have higher risk of "rebreathing". (I just looked this up lol not trying to be preachy just helpful). Either way I'm sure you'll figure something out! (:

I would say get a mini crib that way as baby grows it'll still be suitable. Bassinet is only gonna last so long

I've never heard of a mini crib before.

here is a picture of my rock and play mine is a manual one they make an automatic one that rocks itself for either 30 minutes or 7 hours both the manual and automatic vibrate and have a little teether toy and straps. I havent used mine yet but they are supposed to be good for acid reflux babies
