Please no judge mental comments here... I switched my son to formula (he's doing MUCH better on formula than he was with breast milk I'm not sure why) and I'm in the process of drying up my milk. I started taking Benadryl last night and I'm wearing a good bra 24/7. I have a pump and last night I pumped 5 minutes on each side just to relieve myself, how often should I pump tiny bit out to prevent mastitis but still dry up my milk??
my son went from breast milk to strictly formula, kudos to you hun for doing what is best for your baby. 😊 my milk dried by itself but I heard tight sports bras and no pumping works
@mrsmord, it's where the milk duct gets blocked and you get real inflamed and sore. You also get a fever. That's the best way I know how to describe. It's very painful my mom said she got it twice with my brother.
I was always told that you can't pump and and you cant express milk, so no hot showers either. You have to trick your body into thinking your no longer in need of the milk. It hurts at first but when your milk goes down it feels amazing!
I wore a good fitting sports bra, had nursing pads in and changed them when needed, took ibuprofen every 4 hours and in a few days my milk was gone. I was told not to express any milk at all because your body will just keep producing more since it makes it seem like you're needing it. the leakage I had from changing my pads and showering was enough.
I wore a sports bra that was one size too small for like 24 hours and, voilà! No more milk. 😊
I just quit pumping when I did it, it hurt for like 4 days but then after that it was okay. It's been a month and I still have some milk come out
