I'm so thankful for the lady who has been taking my blood that gave us our own room so I could lay down & focus on not throwing this juice back up! I thought the juice from the first test was bad.. The second one is no joke! But I'm almost done!! 🎉🎉

@mommyof2016, well at least they found it & you're able to take care of it so you & baby are healthy! 😊 & @heatherornelas yeah the clear drink! But since it was my second test it was double what the first one was! 😷😷

I had to do that test, and it confirmed I have GD, so annoying.

Dang really?! That's what I'm afraid of.. But I'm tying to be positive about it. Like at least if I fail this test, they've caught it & I can do what I need to keep my baby healthy.. But it does seem like quite the annoyance.. 😑 how are you doing with it?? @heatherornelas if you don't mind me asking! I haven't met anyone who knows anything about it really.. & my doctor has been kinda quiet about the whole thing..

It's just a "miscommunication" between your body and the placenta. Your body doesn't make enough insulin for both you and baby. It's all diet controlled and sugar monitored, so there are specific foods you cannot eat and specific times of day you have to eat, and you prick your finger to make sure your sugar levels are fine. I have to take medication for it because my fasting levels are higher than they should. It's really not bad once you get the hang of it. I was diagnosed while in Disneyland early December, so I couldn't have ANYTHING with sugar, and I was allowed so many servings of carbs a meal. But it also sucked that dairy, fruit, and some vegetables count toward your carbs, and some can't be eaten at certain times of the day.

Hmmm! Well thanks for the answer, I'm really hoping I don't have it.. And everyone's like "oh yeah, most people pass he second one for sure" but diabetes in general run very high in my family on both sides so I'm honestly not gonna be surprised if I do have it. It's gonna be a wake up call for sure to start taking better care of myself.. Still hoping for good results but I'm just trying to prepare myself if the reality is that I failed. I had a huge mental break down when I failed he first one just feeling like a complete failure and a cow.. & I just cannot let that happen again! But geeze! That's terrible that you got diagnosed in Disney land of all places! You seem to be doing well given the circumstances tho right?! How is the whole having to prick your fingers thing?? That's what I'm worried about @heatherornelas

Diabetes runs high in my family too. It has nothing to do with how you eat, your body just isn't producing what it should. Pricking your finger is super annoying, but not bad. I do it 1 hour after my first bite of meals. I dont have to check when I eat snacks. I was sent to a dietitian who told me what to eat and how much and when, which was nice. I told her I get super hungry at lunch and dinner, so she upped my carbs to 3-4 servings then, 1 serving at breakfast, and 1-2 at snacks. The medication is no big deal, because they start you off with an oral medication before resulting to insulin (but the adjust the oral meds first, not go straight to insulin). Hopefully you passed it, but if not, it's really easy to manage. The most difficult part was knowing what affected you most, like wheat bread affected me more than whole grain or sourdough bread. I asked my dietician if I wanted something sweet, if there were anything I could have, and she replied "nothing". They don't want pregnant women to have artificial sugar, but since I can't have juice, I sneak a diet soda every so often.
