if I spoke to a professional about depression, would they contact social services once baby is born? I have loads of family for support and help, it's just at the moment I'm not feel well in my self and I think I need to speak to someone about it, I'm just scared that they will take my baby away when he's here?

They definitely won't hun! I suffer with depression and I did during my last pregnancy. They will just advise and support you so don't worry xx

@leighamy123, god no hunny they wont take the baby away i can promise you that , i suffer with multiple mental health issues and the first thing i did was ask about that when i feel pregnant i was so terrified and they wont take the baby away unless they think im a harm to the child and that has to be a bad relapse even then , i was under a section last year and they still wouldn't dream of taking the baby away hun , its a horrible feeling and defo talk to someone to ease you mind! Dont suffer hunny talking is the best kind of medicine , they probably will refer you to PEWS there a emotional support for pregnant woman there brillant !! @leighamy123 xxx

hun it's depends what relationship u have with your mw coz I had a really shit one when I had my son because of depression and they contacted social services but of you do need to speak to someone don't hide it as u can suffer badly when baby is born. of they do contact social services than u just have to make it clear to them that it's not affecting your role as a mother

I think the doctor would be the best person to talk to, some midwives can be very snotty about it aswel and a doctor can do more for you than a midwife can. x

I have a specialist mental health midwife and she is amazing, since being with her she has had me properly diagnosed and has referred me into support groups as I didn't want to take the medicated route while pregnant. I've had depression for 8 years and never recieved this kind of support before. xx
