Has anyone here ever switched from Tricare Prime to Tricare Standard? I know it's such an odd question but I'm switching to Standard because I feel like baby and I aren't getting the care we need with the military doctors.

I was told by my PCM that they won't refer me out unless medically necessary because they are taking Tricare Prime at their facility and if I wanted to see a civilian doctor, I'd need to switch to Standard. :/

I decided to just switch to Standard anyways because they basically cover everything with very tiny co pays here and there. Baby boy is going to be born off post :)

I thought about switching to standard but I would have to pay out of pocket for stuff and I was already 12 weeks it was too much of a hassle to do..but I hate base hospitals probably after he's born I'll switch

I think with Standard (what I was told today by an operator) is that they cover everything 100 percent except the hospital stay which is 25 dollars the first 24 hours and if you stay longer, it's 18 dollars a day after that. I didn't check to see how far you are. I'm switching at 6 months pregnant. lol. So if you want to and have time, I'd say do it :) @mazeyy09

I have prime. I don't mind providers. I guess my old problem is I won't have an actual Doctor delivering my daughter. It's a mid wife unless things get real complicated! Also I guess I'm a bit jealous of my friends who have had like 4 ultrasounds and we've only had 2 and I'm almost to 30 weeks!!! I feel more should be done to keep an eye on what's actually going on in my body. And I'd like to see her again!

@hermommy, That's crappy you didn't have a hospital! I just hate how I feel like a number to my OB and it doesn't feel more centralized. I will switch back after he is born most likely lol

@brittanycheri, I HATE that I haven't had as many ultrasounds as my pregnant friends! We get so few :( Hopefully with my new doc it will be different

in colorado springs there's a hospital off base I'll have to find the name but my sister went and it's really nice the drs are amazing and respectable. I'm going there for everything and they except tricare. I've heard alot of bad things about evans on base so I'm scared to go there
