I took my son to the doctor today cause he's been vomiting every time I feed him he's taking 4oz and he's only 5weeks old. The doctor told me it was way to much for him that his tummy couldn't handle 4oz every 3hrs and that's why he's been vomiting so he told me that he's only supposed to take 2-2 1/2 oz and so I listen to him and I'm giving him exactly what he told me but now idk what to do since he's used to taking 4oz! He cries cause I won't give him the 4oz 😟 idk what to do!!! I want to continue and give him what he usually takes but I don't want him vomiting at every feeding
I would try it and see if it helps. I started my son early and he did amazing and slept so well! I did a teaspoon for every two ounces of formula and try it for just a few bottles a day. Maybe once in the morning and once at night. Just to get him used to it. If you have any more questions you can message me! I'm a ftm as well
Every baby is different with feedings, my friends baby is a week older than my son and she eats 5 oz. it really just depends on the baby
My son has such bad reflux he spits up/throws up all the time after feedings. My dr told me no more than 2 oz when he was a month old. I increased it because he was hungry a lot too. He started to spit up after I increased to 3-3 1/2 oz. that was too much for him that young. He had rice cereal added to his bottle because of the reflux, now he's on similac spit up and it's helped some. He's getting 3 oz now and he's 2 months old. I would try maybe smaller more frequent feedings?? I've been feeding my son on demand and that's helped him
Since I'm a first time mom I haven't thought about that I don't even know if it's good or bad... 😔 help?? @bryaxtonsmommy
My son has been doing the samething recently just pukes whole feedings took him to hospital and they gave him acid reflux meds hes 10 weeks old EBF but when gets a bottle of breast milk he will chug 6oz
Most moms don't want to do this but I was at my breaking point. My son did the same thing. He would drink until he got sick because he wasn't getting full. I tried a little rice cereal and he finally got full and could sleep. If you are against that I totally understand but it helped my baby!
It helped my son a lot!! I would still maybe run it by his pediatrician to see what they think about it. My sons pediatrician was the one who recommended it. Also I don't know if you're formula feeding or breastfeeding, but similac and enfamil make formulas for spit up that have the added rice starch already in it, it's supposed to be more nutritionally balanced than adding the rice cereal. That seemed to help my son a little more than just thickening the formula. My son is on the similac one and it seems to be going good so far, so that may be something to try if you're not breastfeeding!
