Kittens that grow up around infants will usually know better, but you'd have to train them. You could always rescue one too though, there's declawed cats in shelters that need homes.

if you get one, you can't change the litter box, so you'll have to have hubby do it if he will..

If you get one as a kitten that way it grows up around the baby you should be fine my cat like to lay on my stomach till the baby kicks him off but you will just have to get after it if it decides to do anything to the baby

That's how my hubby was too. ): now our apartment doesn't allow animals. Good luck convincing him!
