My dog is like my first born. I've had her since I was in 11th grade and she is the first animal that was solely my responsibility. She's almost 7 years old now and we have such a huge bond ( only dog lovers would understand lol ) she is such a mommy's girl, anywhere I go, she goes, she's 90 lbs and she sleeps in bed with us every night, we share food, the whole nine yards lol , Etc etc .. I'm just hoping once Cali is born she doesn't become jealous and feel left out. I know that probably sounds silly to some as she is just a dog in some eyes but to me she's not just a pet,she is family, so I want to make sure she can adjust to a baby in the house ( a baby that is always with her mommy 24/7 ) the best way possible without her feeling neglected or replaced..

My brother is a dog trainer and recommended to give her one of the baby's swaddle blankets from the hospital after the baby is born but before the baby comes home. That way she can get used to the scent of the baby and be ok with it. That and feel free to take 15 mins while baby is sleeping to play with her or take her outside :) it worked with both our puppies when my sisters baby came home and we plan on doing the same for when my little monster arrives :)

Aw thanks @parkersmom93 That's a really good idea. My love won't change for her , she will just have to learn to share me ! I will definitely take those steps though to let her get use to the babies scent before bringing her home

It's the easiest way we found. And if she feels like being curious don't hold her back but gently guide her into the whole idea of being close and interactive with the baby..and you don't have to kick her outta bed either unless she sleeps up by your heads

I also heard that a babydoll in a carseat before the baby is born will let the dog know to be gentle and stuff. I have a 5 month old pitbull and I'm going to try this with him.

a lot of people will bring one of the babies blankets home before the baby comes home and give it to the dog to smell and even sleep with. then when the baby comes home let her be curious about her and get to know her. Also try to set aside a few mins to spend with her so she knos even tho u may be busy that u still love her and will still give her her special time.
