I found out yesterday that my OB does pap at 26 weeks and I don't even get an anatomy scan. I asked why and the staff told me that if afp blood work is normal I don't need one! I'm over here like hey I just turned 40!! That's considered kind of risk. I want to know baby's heart lungs kidneys brain and everything is ok. 😭😭😭😭

that's stupid all my blood work came back normal but they should always do a sonogram around that time. maybe find a new ob?

That's weird. I'm 27 and they let me decide if I wanted a pap smear and I've had 3 ultrasounds already and I'm 26 weeks. I had a dating appointment and two anatomy scans.

And bloodwork only assesses your risk factor. They should do an ultrasound to check organ development. Can't do a blood test to check babies brain and kidneys and lungs etc.

It's weird @foreveryoung247 I really like this OB DR With my other two boys he sent me to get an anatomy scan by a maternal specialist. Only thing changed is my insurance. I don't get it?
