I have both because I want our baby in our room when he first comes home, his crib is in his bedroom down the hall and I'll transition to that later on. Just my thought process.

I put my son in the crib but sometimes I lay the bassinet from my pack and play in the crib and let him sleep like that..

you will probably want the bassinet at first, but either way it's your choice. my son had a pack n play next to the bed but still slept in our bed so we could actually get sleep

I plan on doing both again with this baby. My first was in her bassinet until 3 months, then in her crib in her room. A bassinet isn't super necessary, but I liked it being right by my bed for the first few months, it made everything easier. Especially right after birth when I was recovering. It's really just preference.

My son is almost 4 weeks old...he sleeps in this co-sleeper that is attached to my bed. At 3 months he will move to his crib. That was the agreement between my husband and I. I like the co-sleeper because it is level with my bed and I can always see or get to my baby while laying down. I just slide him over to bf at night and slide him back. We also have bassinet but that stays in the living room so he has a comfortable place to nap while were up during the day.

I used a bassinet for my first so she was right next to me all night after a while I switched her to a crib and she started sleeping all night without waking up!

You'll want him next to you in a bassinet or co-sleeper because he will be up every 2-3 hours to eat, around 3 months, sometimes sooner,maybe later, they start sleeping through the night so that's a good time to transition to a crib
