40 weeks is 10 months. Your gestational weeks are only 38 weeks. You are not pregnant for the first 2 weeks because those are the weeks that are during your cycle and fertilization. That's why American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), along with the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine has changed full term to 39 weeks and 37 weeks is now considered early term. Sorry it's hard to explain it but I took medical classes that explained it better and one of my aunts is a nurse who also stated your technically pregnant for 10 months. She tried to explain it to my husband but he was so lost. A lot of people don't understand the logic behind it, but you could ask your doctor about it they can give you a better explanation behind it. @katearabella
