Advice/support/personal expirience much needed. So ever since I found out I needed to have a csection, I've looked on the bright side that at least I'd have my daughter here by Easter. Literally the most important holiday to me. I went to my doctor today, and she told me her records say I'm due on the 31st, even though since day 1 I've had it marked the 30th. Both ultrasound and LMP. One day wouldn't seem like a giant deal, but it is and I'll explain why. My plan was to have my csection on a Wednesday. That way, it would not interfere with my days with my son. As selfish as that sounds, I'll explain why. Long story short, my son's father is a POS. The last time I was in the hospital and he had to keep my son one more night, he drug me to court saying I had hit my son, all this other crazy stuff. Just to get back at me. My plan was to go in Wednesday, get out Saturday at the latest since I don't have my son again until 7pm Saturday. It's looking like she's going to try and schedule me Thursday. So. If that happens, what are the odds that I could have a c-section on a Thursday and be out of the hospital by Saturday night without a struggle? If it does become a struggle, how do I demand to leave on Saturday? I know this is stupid. I know I should put me and my daughter before my son's father, but I can not deal with recovering from a c-section and a court date to prove whatever bull crap he claims.

a c section is considered surgery so there are certain things that must take place before you can be discharged. unfortunately they will not take into consideration your personal situation over what's best for you and baby. I know it's frustrating. you can talk to your ob and see if they can schedule your c section for Tuesday or Wednesday. you will be in the hospital for 3 days following a c section and that's if there are no complications.

I've had a c section and they keep you in the hospital 3 days after surgery I was kept 5 due to high blood pressure so if no complications you can go home after 3 days

@jjordan86, I've already talked to nurses and doctors, and get that there is criteria to make sure I'm ok, but I've also been told the baby is fine after 48 hours, they do it for me. so if my baby is fine and I know my body better than anyone else and have had a c-section before where I was begging to go home the next day, why can't I sign out AMA

for insurance purposes you can't. not after having surgery. let's say you haven't had a bowel movement since the c section and they send you home and you get backed up? that's dangerous. let's say you start to bleed out or have blood pressure issues. it takes 3 days to make sure of all of these things. The doctors are going to look for your best interest not your personal issues. is there not anyone that can keep your son for that extra day? @emily18234

If she gets you in Thursday morning you should be put by sat morning after noon at the latest... Unless you have complications I hope you don't let this ruin you meeting your baby

@jjordan86, his father will not drop him off to anyone but me and if I have to change visitation he will drag me back to court saying the usual lies. which results in not being able to see my son and I'll have to be in court within a week of having a c-section to stand there and say "no he's still lying"

@jjordan86, this is the cycle. every 3 months he gets mad because I'm breathing. he goes to court, claims my son said I hit him, I don't get my son for a week, we go to court and they dismiss his claims. the last time I had to go to the hospital (a new med gave me a terrible reaction) he called every hospital in the area until he found where I was then I found out he called that hospital every hour to find out when I got discharged. then took me to court because he had to have my son an extra night and said the same I hit my son bs. I would rather go home and just suck up healing than have to go to court a week after having surgery to prove for the 100th time I don't abuse my son or do drugs, or my fiance doesn't hit my son, or were homeless or whatever lie he wants to try this time

@kayla252, I'm a l &d nurse I've never discharged a patient in that short of time after having a c section. @emily18234 you should start making some type of arrangements now because the hospital will not cater to your personal needs if it interferes with your health. That's just the reality of it.

@emily18234, I understand everything you are saying but the hospital will only care about your health and the procedure they have to follow by law. they will not risk being sued if something happens to you because they discharged you too early

the law is I can deny any treatment and sign out at anytime. signing out AMA would release the hospital from any recourse. it would be like signing a release to skydive then suing because I broke an arm. I understand the risks.

if that what you wanna do, do it. it's not safe and no hospital will recommend it. if something happens to you, you won't be there for your son or the baby you are about to have. you have to decide if it's worth the risk. You have time to make plans, talk to a lawyer about your options. I would not risk my health over anyone. @emily18234

@jjordan86, unless the hospital wants to pay the 5k it will cost to fight my son's father over literally one night of adjustment, I'll stay as long as they want. but I need to do what's best for my family as a whole.
