How Can I Help My Son with Constipation After Starting Rice Cereal?
Anything I can do to help my sons constipation?? He never used to be constipated until he got on rice cereal, I've done the prune juice for him, he still strains to poop. He's now on similac spit up because he has such bad reflux (hasn't helped his reflux much :/ ) but now I notice him really struggling even more to poop, he pooped yesterday but it was formed and he had a really hard time getting it out. I do the bicycle exercises for him as often as I remember to do them, massage his tummy, put a warm wash cloth on his tummy. Nothing seems to really help... Any suggestions?

Try warm apple juice or pear juice. You might have to cut back on the cereal or skip it altogether until his tummy is ready for it.

He's not on the cereal anymore, he's on similac spit up which has rice starch already in it. If he doesn't get the rice cereal/starch he won't keep anything down. His dr only wanted him to have the prune juice

prune juice will cause more gas, so you'd have to give him gas drops

I stopped the juice because he would still strain pretty hard to poop

@vb95, I get it from Walgreens but I'm almost positive they have it at Walmart or any store that has baby medicine

What age did you give it to your baby? @brittrenae I looked online and the box starts the dosages at 6 months

I started before 6 months. My baby has always had a constipation problem ever since she was born no matter what type of formula we gave her or any product. I was giving it to her for a long time but now I buy Plexus products and give her a probiotic in her bottle. That's working perfectly good too. Mommy Bliss is the cheaper option though

the rice cereal made my son constipatconstipated. I switched to the oatmeal and now he's fine.
