I'm having one here away from my family and friends. It's basically my SO family and friends that are coming. It's awkward but makes them feel better. I kinda just wish i was home.

@lostinct82mj, I don't live in the same state as any of my family or friends. My parents recently moved to San Antonio but my SO family lives in Odessa area so my they planned a shower out there with all his family and family friends... My mom was able to make it but I will admit it was very uncomfortable even being family for 5 years but it wasn't the same. I made him open the gifts with me because I was uncomfortable.

@sparnell, I live in CT and my entire family lives in IA. Literally no one is coming to my shower. I expected it since it's such a long distance but it makes me sad. His family is coming so it's kind of a family reunion for him instead of a shower. Even his brothers are coming. It's weird

That's how mine was too!!! It was all his friends and it was a coed thing. It was really awkward! Just think it's only a few hours. I mainly talked to my mom and my mil and sil. My other sil is currently pregnant and due in July and everyone was asking her about her pregnancy and all that... She also got engaged 2 months after us and married 8 months after us so we didn't expect her not to get pregnant the same year as us too. But oh well. My family still sent gifts and cards to us so it made me feel a lot better but I know the feeling. @lostinct82mj just keep a smile on your face
