most drs actually don't do the first ultrasound until 20 weeks for the anatomy scan unless you have other complications first. they normally do a fetal Doppler at the first and consecutive Apts.

some drs do that scan as early as 15 or 16 weeks, though, to also predict gender.

It really just depends on your dr, I guess. I'm not trying to pass anything off as fact, lol. with my first son, I had the one ultrasound at 20 weeks for gender and a second at 36 to check his position and fluids. with this one, I had one at 8 weeks (thought I miscarried), one at 10 weeks (another er visit), one at 16 weeks (bleeding again, Dr checked for placenta privia) one at 20 weeks for anatomical scan and gender, and one at 22 weeks for a follow up since baby was uncooperative. I now have another at 32 weeks for development because I'm measuring small.

Depends on doctor and insurance. I know people who have only gotten one ultrasound their whole pregnancy

I had an ultrasound my first appointment to confirm how far along I was. And I'm glad she did it because it turned out I was two weeks further than I thought.

Depends on your doctor really. I had one at 7 weeks to confirm my due date because my hg levels showed I was 9 weeks. Had one at 15 weeks (private ultrasound company for gender) 21 weeks for anatomical scan and gender, 24 weeks to recheck his heart because she couldn't see the flow of his heart and my dr wants another at 34 weeks to weigh baby because I'm not gaining weight like she wants.
