any breast feeding mamas with the depo shot? do you like it and did it cause crazy weight gain?

i had depo when i was younger. and yes weight gain , horrible horomone changes and acne! who knows if they changed it.

I had the depo shot while I was breastfeeding and it hurt my supply... I gained like 30lbs and I was crazy hormonal. I actually had to see a therapist and I couldnt explain why? When I stopped getting the shot I was so much better.

I just stopped taking birth control....lol But we were trying for a new baby. But I was told that the mini pill is recommended if you are planning to breastfeed bcuz it has no hormone in it.

i gain well over 60 lbs with it when i was 18-20. went from a perfect 170 (im 6'2) up to 250:/ i dont recommend any kind of chemical birth control. they mess with your hormones to much

I like the depo. never made me gain weight but you have to remember, it's not the shot that makes you gain weight. eating unhealthy is what makes u gain weight

My doctor told me your not supposed to take anything with hormones. Only the mini pill or the one iud that doesn't have hormones I forget when it's called. That it can mess up your supply and a chance it could go in your milk (slim chance but still could happen)

@ocgirl actually it's the change in hormone that makes you gain weight. And everyone's body reacts differently to certain hormones.

@hamman13 yes that's what I was told. Crazy tho that with my last daughter I wasn't told that. And was on the shot for a full year before I knew anything. I was so upset.
