A week and 1 day overdue, but I figured I'd tell my labor story.

Wednesday, January 20th at 11am I went in for my routine 38 week appointment. When the nurse took my blood pressure it was very high. Like 170/100 high. and it didn't seem like it was gonna come down.

Well when my OB doctor came in afterward, she basically told me I was gonna be admitted and we'd make steps to start inducing today.

Being 38 weeks it wouldn't make sense to prolong the pregnancy if my blood pressure was going to stay high. So I was taken to L&D in a wheelchair straight from my appointment.

I got all set up in the room and was given an iv and closer to 2pm they started pitocin. I started out at the hospital at 2cm and 50% effaced. I originally wanted a med free birth but by 11pm that night I just could not stand the contractions anymore.

So around 1am Thursday January 21st I opted for the epidural. Which was the best relief of my life! I actually got to sleep! At that point I was only 3cm and 60% effaced.

I was checked again at about 7am that morning and I was around 4-5cm. More of a waiting game. At around 9/930 my boyfriend left to get some things from our apartment. they checked me not long after and I was already at 8 cm. then about 30 min later fully dialated! The OB broke my water and I started feeling the urge to push not long after. Andrew hadn't came back yet and I was blowing up his phone because I didn't want him to miss his daughters birth. luckily he got the message on time and sped over. None of us expected me to dialate 5cm in just a couple hours. I was fully ready and as soon as he got there the doctor said I could start pushing. Only had to push for about 30 min with a short pause so the doctor could unwrap the cord from around her neck. Born at 10:41am and then I was given my daughter immediately after for skin to skin. I was crying like a baby. Most amazing moment of my life. aside from a small tear, that I already feel 100% from, everything went perfectly. She was a tiny 6lbs1oz and 18 inches long.

I already miss being pregnant and I actually liked my labor experience for the most part. I would totally do it again in a heartbeat!
