I had blood work done on Wednesday for neuro tube defects. My doctor called me this morning to let me know it came back positive for Trisomy 18, which means an extra chromosome. She scheduled me an emergency ultrasound for Tuesday to see if they can see anything. She said not to worry just yet, but I'm distraught. Has anyone else had a screening come back positive?

Has anyone else had experience with this? She said false positives are not uncommon.

I had one, but for Trisomy 13. Praying they don't find anything at your ultrasound 🙏🏼

Mine came back a 1 in 41 chance our baby would be born with Trisomy 18, we had a level 2 ultrasound and it showed no markers at all an he was born healthy with no issues. Actually false positives are common with blood tests

@orionsmomma, @xoxo512070 thanks ladies. That makes me feel a bit better. I'm praying it's nothing. I'm a worry wart so I've just got to keep myself as calm as possible until Tuesday morning.

@lumbeemama, honestly nothing at all will ease your mind until the baby is born. Even though my ultrasound was perfect, I still worried my entire pregnancy because I could not imangine losing my baby. I did a crap ton of research on it as well to prepare myself for the worst and to understand what it really was, wishing you luck!
