QUESTION: I have GD & most likely will have to be induced & around 38/39weeks, what was your story? did you want a vaginal birth & had to have a c-section? did you get to have baby vaginally? did you get to schedule your induction? kinda getting a feel for what I may be in for here.. want to avoid a c-section completely if I can!

I have diabetes, I was to be induced at 39 weeks but at 38 weeks she failed a non stress test so I had to be monitored. after two days my blood pressure was elevated and her heart rate was too steady...but I think that was the morphine because they decided to induce me then so to help me sleep they gave me that. after 2 days of labor I didn't progress so we decided on a c section...it wasn't as bad as I thought just a longer recovery.

how long was your recovery? @eskawho that's intense, 2 days to just cut her out!? brutal! I don't want the scar or the after care if I can avoid it, hoping I can actually deliver him without him being to big

I was in the hospital for 5 days...3 I was just hooked up being monitored and induced. 2 was because of the c section which is standard. but yes labor for two days was brutal lol. she was out after minutes of starting and I was up walking as soon as I could feel my legs and my baby was healthy and under 7 pounds. if you take care of yourself you shouldn't have to worry about a big baby. my Dr explained to me that the size is not so much the big issue but complications my baby will have if I would have let my blood sugar levels go out of control so I did everything I could and she was perfectly healthy. as for my scar, it's not to bad and is fading...it's right on the bikini line so it's always covered. as for the recovery I had help and took it easy...I was off pain meds by 2 weeks...4 weeks felt no pain and stitches were almost devolved. 6 weeks I was clear by my Dr for regular activity. I knew a c section was higher for me because I am diabetic, on blood pressure meds, and over weight so my odds were higher. now my sister also a diabetic had hers vaginally
