I think that if they're still crying after 5-10 minutes, you should go back in to calm them down & then try again.

I read stuff about people letting them cry for 30 minutes or longer & I think that's a bit much. At that point, they're only falling asleep, because they're bodies are shutting down.

I read an article awhile back and it said that its okay to let them cry for about 15 minutes. If they don't stop within that time then you need to go in and talk to the for a minute and then leave again. It's supposed to give them reassurance that someone is always there. I know that's just an article, but I tired it with my little one and she does really well!

I slowly started when she was 2.5 months. but only let her cry 5 min then go in pat her back till she calmed then left again. didn't take long at all for her to self soothe an put herself to sleep.

My Zoe is totally not a self soother! We're trying to help her become one buuuut I hate listening to her cry

I did cry it out with my little girl to an extent. but she did amazing with it puts herself to sleep with very little fussing. doesn't even last a minute and she's out.

As long as your baby can self sooth, I dont see any harm in letting them cry!
