Yes everyone is supposed to get it (unless they believe other wise ) for the doctor and you to know that baby is growing and developing at the right pace and is healthy . The anatomy scan is not for the sex of the baby only , that is only one small part of it! :)
Yes I got mine at 20 weeks - they check the heart and make sure everything is growing correctly. I did find out that I had placenta previa after I went.

Everybody does it. Well unless you're having a home birth. And don't believe in getting the ultrasound done at all.

It's just a regular ultrasound where they take pics of your baby's body parts.. Nothing to worry about ☺️
