I read online that if you're going to do anything wait until the second trimester. I died my hair when I was about 24 weeks.

no! not safe till at least 2nd trimester

It is always safe. as long as you are in a very very well ventilated room, outside would be best.
although the color may not take. I don't know why but some color will not take on certain pregnant women's hair.

I go to cosmetology school and this is what's recommended :)
