after posting my last post, I was wondering if you ladies would share your experiences with me about using pacifiers and breastfeeding you LOs. I am definitely going to try and breastfeed, and she has pacifiers that other people bought her, I'm not totally against them but I don't want her using them to mess up breastfeeding and I don't want her to get attached to them, I am considering using them every now and then.. so my question is how was your experience with breastfeeding and using pacifiers?? FTM TIA 😘😘

@wrd2016, Im a FTM and my son isnt born yet but ive spoken to a lot of people and read a lot and from my understanding its best not to use these if your are going to breast feed full time. No pacifier no bottles. But you kinda have to be open to options if baby doesnt want to latch or you cant breast feed. read and learn all options.

I'm a FTM to so I don't have a story to tell but my plan is to Introunce the pacifier after a month or so. I've heard that a pacifier helps them not fall so deep asleep helping to counter act sids and after some time breastfeeding they can get used to other things without expecting milk.

@cubanmommy26, @courtney.emond yeah I've read alot about it and I know that nipple confusion can ruin breastfeeding and I definitely don't want her to get attached to the so that she won't go to sleep without it or wants one 24/7 I guess I could just wait and see how it goes, but breastfeeding is my #1 priority :) thanks ladies

I think that's a good mindset to have!

@wrd2016, thats mine too. I am hoping to breast feed at least a year. Gonna make sure my little guy gets all the nutrition from his mommy..

I breastfed and used pacis. no confusion at all. I think it all depends on how you use the paci. I would use it for when I knew baby was fed and changed and just needed the confort of sucking

I exclusively breastfeed my son and waited one month to introduce him to pacifiers, and bottles. He is now almost 6 months old and loves his paci, and mommy's boobies of course. My advice would be to wait 'till the one month mark, but also to trust your mommy instincts. Only you know what's best for your baby. :)

in my breastfeeding class they told us to try and wait at least 3-4 weeks before starting the paci

@courtney.emond, thanks :) @cubanmommy26 exactly, I see it as what could be more important than feeding my babygirl? I know some mom's can't but as long as I can I will. I'm no mean against formula just think it's best to try and breastfeed if you can, bc some mom's want nothing more than to breastfeed and they cant.. @mommi161 that's good to hear, thank you! I know every baby is different as well but hear others thoughts definitely helps.

@lynnbinn11, thanks @wonderland1202 thank you for the advice, I think I will wait a little while. I feel like she would be less likely to get the confusion if she was already established with breastfeeding and could then know the difference :)

yay that is pretty much why they said. it. that way she gets into a routine of.knowing how to latch properly

@lynnbinn11, it makes sense. I've read alot about breastfeeding and I've taken a class, but sometimes stories of personal experience help a lot.
