Ladies who have children that sucked their fingers, how did you get them to stop?

it's natural for them to do that I think it would be hard unless you just always put a toy in their hand but they will go back to it

My parents had a metal retainer put in my mouth with spikes . It didn't work . It's not that bad of a habit .

ya , it sucked but I still wanted to suck my thumb so I did . This was when I was on kindergarten

@aoibheannsmama What did they do that for? My brother sucked his thumb up until he was 13. His teeth are horrible and he talks with a lisp. @mrsmoore I saw a mommy post the other day that her daughters speech isn't the best because of her letting her suck a pack.

you know what's best for your child . I heard there is some spray you can spray on their thumb that is not to great tasting.

@aoibheannsmama He's 7 months now. I guess I'll wait because I don't like giving him anything that's not natural.

I would just try and distract him from it . When does he do it ? When he is fussy , bored , sleepy ?

@aoibheannsmama More when he's bored. I have noticed a difference when I let him play which is most of the time he's been keeping it out so now he does it when he's sleepy or bored.

It may be something he does to help him sleep when he is sleepy . I would be concerned if he did it while playing but it sounds pretty normal .

He may be wearing himself then .

Oh I think she could just have a speech issue not from that I let all three of my children do it there speech is excellent
