OK I see everyone doing the orange glucose test thing! I never did that with my first and haven't got asked to do it with this one! What is it? What's it for? Do I have to do it?

You have to do it around 28 weeks.. It's to test for gestational diabetes

yup this mama is going to be raising holy hell my next appointment! thanx for the heads up ladies! no really cause my son was born 35wks premature cause I had preclampsia/high blood pressure and gained 70pounds he was in the NICU for quite some time before he was ok to come home. Now I feel like all of that could of been prevented!!

Omg wow! That's crazy! 😕 I think it could've been prevented as well! It'd the things they need to be on point about & make sure is okay!

You should have it...it's a glucose tolerance test to see if you have gestational diabetes

I'm actually shocked they never made you do it! Do you mind me asking if you see an ob or a general prac? sometimes gps will overlook these things. it is very important though...especially if there is already risk factors such as ethnicity, family history, prior gestational diabetes. I'd bring it up and talk about any risk factors you may have so it gets across to them.
