My family doesn't want me to give my daughter my bf(who is the father) his last name because they think that in the future he might try to take her from me.....this all happened because my aunt married a man(who isn't the father)when she was pregnant and let him sign the birth certificate and gave her baby his last name and for three years he harassed her and tried taking the baby until he finally agreed to divorce her. I want to give my daughter her fathers last name because that's her father and I feel id be robbing him of that in a way.....mommies what are your thought?

I'm in the same boat and I know he'll be there for the birth but I have not talked to him in months, only his parents so I have no idea what to do

@calismommy, no one can take your child from you unless there is an unfit living situation... So do what you are comfortable with. My child will have her fathers last name'

also. even of you give her your last name, all it takes is a quick DNA test to prove she is his, if he wanted to fight for her, her name wouldn't matter one bit.

As far as the state is concerned the name on the birth certificate is just that a name. Nobody can take your child from you unless they prove you are a terrible mother and even then some states still won't remove a child from their mother. So do what you feel is best for your child.
