You cannot make your hair lighter unless you use bleach.

No worries. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and bleaching your hair doesn't "break" your hair, if you have healthy hair and go about bleaching it the correct way then it will not damage your hair. Proper hair care is the key to having blonde/light hair. There's ways to do it without damaging it but while still using bleach! 😊
