Laying in daddy's lap 💙 Never shared my story so here it goes (Kind of long). Went in Monday morning (1/18) to be induced. I was about a half centimeter dilated and 50% effaced. They started me on cytotec and progress was slow but there was progress. Did some bouncing on the birth ball and walked a few laps around the halls in between doses. Got about 3 doses throughout the day. I was at about 3 centimeters after the 3rd dose around 9pm that night and at 945pm my water broke and my body jumped into gear. Started dilating a bit faster and contractions kicked in. The contractions were really close together and pretty intense. I breathed through them for a couple hours but they wouldn't get into a pattern and it was becoming too hard for me to handle. I ended up getting a dose of nubane for the pain and slept for about 3 hours. When I woke up the pain started to come back and I was about 7cms. I breathed through them again for a little while but they still wouldn't get into a pattern so eventually I opted for the epidural at around 1am. As I was getting my epidural the rest of my water gushed out. After the epidural I was comfortable and slept a bit more. Woke up the next morning (1/19) and was still at about 7cms. Started using a peanut ball in between my legs to help my cervix dilate. Nurses flipped me back and forth a few times. It started to help a little because I was thinning a bit more. After a few hours of that progress kind of ended and I wasn't getting anywhere. I was then put on pitocin around 5pm. Pitocin kicked in and I went from a 7 to a 9 in a couple hours and Skyler's head was really low. Started feeling a lot of rectal pressure and it kept getting more and more intense. Got checked again and one side of my cervix wasn't thinning out and they realized Skyler was laying on his side head down so they had me use the peanut ball again to help with the thinning but it wasn't working. At around 9pm the doctor said that there was a good chance I'd need to have a c-section because his head wasn't descending properly and at first I refused and my doctor gave me one more hour to get things going before coming back and checking on me. By then the pressure was too much and the tip of his head was starting to come through but was most likely going to get stuck, my doctor said I could push if I wanted to but if I did and he got completely stuck I would need an emergency c-section, so finally I decided a c-section was the right choice even though it wasn't planned and by 10:53pm that night our little man, Skyler Christopher Curtin, came into the world at 8lbs 7oz and 22.5 inches long.
