okay mommies, I need some advise: due to family circumstances, my mom may not be able to meet her granddaughter, so I need to know what all I can do to help me start the labor process. As of the 22nd I was measuring at 35 weeks so I know she's healthy. Just please help.

35 weeks is still early Hun size and weight doesn't matter. Her lungs could still not be mature enough. I had my middle at 36 weeks and he was in the NICU for 2 weeks because his lungs weren't ready.

I would talk to your doctor as well. But @mommyx415 is right the lungs aren't fully developed until 37 weeks. unless you had a ultrasound sometime this week then there is no way your doctor could know if they are developed or not.. and plus your body will know when its time. It's not healthy to force your body into it...

It's not worth the risk to have your baby early just so your mom can see the baby. I understand that sucks and you want her there but your child's health comes first. Like everyone else has said, talk to your doctor about starting labor early. Her lungs may be developed but you don't know fully the risks, I don't so I would talk to your doctor.

35 weeks is too soon. I had my son at 35 weeks and I got lucky my son could breath on his own but his brain wasn't developed. we had to teach him to eat and he couldn't maintain his own body temp and he didn't wake to eat I had to wake him every 2-3 hours baby will come when its ready you may be miserable but having a preemie and/or NICU baby is no fun just because baby measures at 35 weeks she is healthy but the best thing for baby is to be in the womb until fully developed which is 37-39 weeks

Even if you wanted to start the labor process your body won't respond to it until it's ready. Which may not be for another 5 weeks

Babies are healthy at 12 weeks also, I understand what you are going through I 100% do, but keeping baby in is way better for both y'all. your mom might not be able to met her right away, but what's best for baby is to stay in! I'll keep you in my prayers tonight!! XOXO

@rainbow_mommys2021, there is no way the Drs can determine that until birth and definitely not at 35 weeks they are not fully mature until 37 weeks. The Drs have no place in saying such a thing especially considering they can't determine that on ultrasound how mature their lungs are. It is too risky to even say that. I would definitely talk to your dr if he feels that way or some how knows that her lungs are mature enough he would induce you. If he isn't willing to induce you than he feels that their is a reason to wait. A lot of weighs to induce labor on work when your body and baby are ready, if you body isn't ready it could be very dangerous for baby and even yourself. Just be super careful Hun. You wouldn't want to have her early then her end up in the NICU for any reason. It's not a good feeling having your baby then being discharged from the hospital without your baby to go home to all her things and her in the hospital isn't a good feeling at all. My son was in NICU for two weeks. Mother's Day I spent in the NICU. I know everyone is different but from experience you would definitely want to wait.
