Yes, they tell you not to use tampons for the first 6 months after birth (that's what my doc told me). It took 5 months for then to be ok for me to put in.
it takes a few times of inserting them for it to feel right again but if you arent comfortable at all than you can always wait a little longer I hate pads so I dealt with the uncomfortableness for a day or 2
Everyone's doctors are different lol My doc had told me that the wait was because you don't want to keep pp blood in your body or risk infection and I had pp bleeding foreverrrrr. I'm not sure what's actually true, but you know your body best! It will be uncomfortable like @wyatts_mommy_0106 said though.

They were uncomfortable at first but I got.used to it again and I started using them after I got cleared at 6 weeks
