They will usually have you fast not eat after a certain time the night before and then have you drink the special juice and draw your blood every hour for three hrs. They will usually contact you soon after you test.

If your test is an hour you don't have to worry about fasting. If you fail your glucose test depending on what the doctors thinks best you can try to control your sugar levels by diet and exercise but you still have to test your levels and you can also control your glucose levels with insulin injections.
