Anyone have any experience with a broken rib while pregnant? I'm 38 weeks 3 days now... I've been dealing with rib pain for over 2 weeks now, originally my dr explained it was bc I'm so short (5'2") & baby is so large (was already 7.5lbs at 36 weeks) & she had torn my soft tissue between my ribs on my right side (guess it is more likely to happen on right side bc your liver doesn't compress any like your stomach can on left side) he told me the only solution to the pain is to deliver her so I just have to tough it out. Anyways, this afternoon I was laying down and had some bad heartburn that caused me to start coughing... well when I coughed I felt a pop by my rib and all of a sudden intense pain that immediately brought me to tears and I couldn't even sit myself up. I have been in immense pain ever since, also have felt a sharp stabbing pain randomly if I move wrong (like my rib is broken off and stabbing me) so I think she not only tore more tissue but also fractured a rib. I have a dr appt tomorrow so I am trying to just hold out til then but this is just AWFUL! Anyone have experience with this? Do you think he will want to deliver early? (he was already considering inducing me due to her size and some high BP issues) Will I be able to push and have her vaginally with a broken rib? Ugh, I am just so overwhelmed and frustrated to be dealing with all of this pain on top of the normal pregnancy discomfort :( Any advice anyone can offer would be amazing, thank you!
