i would do the exact same thing . i would not want my baby at a unsafe environment . i barely even want my husbands uncles who are drug addicts and alcoholics to hold my baby . we are mothers and we do what we need to to protect our babys.

Unfortunately because of the law, it's not your choice where his visitation takes place. You can tell a court that his roommates drink and do drugs but the likelihood of them denying him parent-time over that is slim to

none since its Hearsay and cannot be proved. If there's a continual problem they can do drug testing on the father but that will take a very long court battle. Just remember, if you deny him his legally alotted time with his child there will be consequences and if it keeps happening and he's smart and documents it he can use that to get custody to show that you do not have your child's best interest in mind. My husband spent 3 years documenting every little thing that happened between him and his ex wife and every time she refused to let him see his son. What happened is the courts deemed the mother incapable of honoring a custody arrangement and she lost sole physical custody and ended being the one with visitation. I know that doesn't happen often but it can happen it's something you want to be aware of in the midst of all the people telling you that you're doing the right thing keeping a child from their parent for whatever the reason is. I'd suggest that you and the dad work something out and maybe encourage him to live with different roommates. Make yourself aware of what legally alotted parent-time is in your state and be very careful. Mothers can lose custody. it's very difficult but in modern days it does happen. Especially when the kid is a little older.

I did the same thing with my child's father. I told him he needed to be around more than just when he wanted to and there was no way in hell my baby was going over to where he was living. He tried to fight me but I have plenty of witnesses that will back me up that that place is not acceptable for a child. Exactly. I'd never take chances with that. People are crazy and unpredictable. You never know what they will do and think they can get away with. Especially if they're intoxicated. @kearsy103

glad I'm not the only one. I think for the most part me and father figured things out. and as of now it looks like he'd rather stay at his mom's and be able to see his daughter then not @mom-09-16
