Hi mama bears so today's question is I'm currently taking anxiety medicine but they don't seem to work the doctors tells me that it's the safe medicine so I went to my counselor and therapist and she prescribed me Prozac
Does anyone now anything about it.. I know she wouldn't give me anything that would hurt my baby she said since the baby and i are connected by the umbilical cord the only side effect is the baby might be a little cranky

I don't take anything for my mental health while pregnant due to the fact I can't take SSRI's but any medication can affect the baby. its just less risk with some. Tylenol is completely safe but if you take it took often then it may start to cause issues

I take zoloft .... I was told by my dr that it was the most prescribed meds given to preg with anxiety and depression because the know the most about it.
I had to stop taking my effexor ... because it's not safe.
I'm not sure what category Prozac is in. I was on it for awhile not pregnant ... u can def look it up. u don't want it to be category D. c is okay but a or b is best. Buspar can be used as well I was on it before I switched to zoloft

I really have bad anxiety depression and I haven't started it but I don't want the baby hurt

@mama932, while pregnant you can only take certain category medications. it starts at A and from what I've heard it can go to E I've never been on anything that far. but A & B category medications are safe Category C is more iffy and any further its a 100% no

@mama932, mental health medications I'm general are hard to take while pregnant because of the issues that follow. try looking up stuff like natural ways

I was off meds my previous pregnancy I'll do anything to KEEP my twins safe that's all I worry about I got my meds tho soon as I have them @mama932
