Went to the emergency room for my baby boy, he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. So they gave him Prednisolone and told me to give him 2.7mL once daily in the morning. Gave it to him that next morning and about an hour and a half later he had a seizure. He's never had a seizure so im guessing it was a reaction to the medication. I come to find out its steroids that they gave my son. He didn't have RSV so why would they give my baby steroids? Has anyone else experienced something similar to this?
Please keep Dylan in your prayers also. I pray he doesn't have another seizure. I watch him closely everyday. 🙏

Steroids are an anti inflammatory and reduce mucus production in the lungs . Did they give an antibiotic as well?

No, they didn't.

The steroid prednisone can be used for a lot of different things. I used to take it daily for months at a time to control my blood cells from attacking my joints. I've also had to have an IV of it followed by pills for a few months due to an allergic reaction from a different IV. I'm sorry about his seizure though! I hope he's okay now.

Have you been to the doctor about the seizure

My son was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and they told me just to suction his nose and turn a humidifier on. They didn't give me anything and I am kind of glad. Yeah, it was miserable to see him go through it but not having to deal with him on meds was great.

@abbysue, yes I brought him to the doctor that same day he had a seizure and they said he didn't need the prednisone because his infection wasn't even that bad and just to continue to suction his nose until the mucus comes out because that's his only issue right now so that's what ive been doing
