Went to the doctors today. I'm 1 cm dilated!! Will the process start to speed up now that I'm dilating?

@reaganmommy2015, that's good news for me! I'll be 38 weeks on Saturday. Last week I had an appt and wasn't dilated. Hopefully at my appt tomorrow I'll be dilated some

No you can be dilated for weeks and it doesn't speed up labor or the time that you're in labor. I was dilated to 3cm and 85% effaced for 6 weeks before I even went into labor I was still in labor for 36+ hours
I turned 37 weeks today so hopefully. I'm just ready to meet my babygirl lol I'm just not ready for the pain @reaganmommy2015
You can be dilated 1 cm for weeks it just depends if your body is ready I was 37 weeks and I wasnt dilated at all but 4 days later bam I was in labor at 10 cm it just depends
Yeah I've heard that to. But I've had mild cramping lately and I got checked 2 days ago and I was completely closed & today I'm 1 cm, so I hope & pray that things will speed up lol @djsmommy0516
I am a ftm but I have heard you can stay dialated for weeks without labor starting. Not sure though
