Okay, so, I was prescribed Macrobid for a UTI today. I go to pick it up at Walgreens, and the Pharmacist tells me there is a significant risk to expectant mothers in the 3rd Trimester who are taking Macrobid. Apparently, there is an increased risk for congenital heart defects in the baby. Um, no thank you. I need to have my midwife call something else in. This is what happens when I have to see the midwife on call....

I have been taking macrobid through my entire pregnancy, I don't know what that pharmacist is trying to tell you. my baby was perfectly healthy

typically it's only during weeks 37-40 it's dangerous. I work at a walgreens and the pharmacist had mentioned the same thing to me when my doctor prescribed mine for a uti about 2 weeks ago. having a pharmacist Co worker came in handy lol. if you are concerned though, I'm sure they'll call something else in :)

they accidentally prescribed me macrobid in my first trimester where it's also dangerous and gave me nitrofurotonin instead....which am not sure if that's ok in last trimester but Jesus you have to be on it being a pregnant mom because a lot of the times these doctors put you on something over looking you're pregnant!!!
